With over 25 years of senior leadership experience within Higher Education, Andrea draws upon her professional background in human resources management and organisationaldevelopment where she held roles in both the private and public sectors to deliver large-scale cultural and structural change programmes.

Andrea holds postgraduate qualifications in Human Resource Management and Employment Law with the universities of Northumbria and Surrey and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

As Chief Operating Officer at the University of Sunderland, Andrea provides Executive oversight of the University’s professional support services, including Student Journey, External Relations, Human Resources, and Academic Registry and Governance.

As statutory clerk to the Board of Governors, she provides Board members with the advice, support and information necessary for them to fulfil their responsibilities.  She ensures the University and its subsidiary companies operate within the higher education sector’s complex legal, regulatory and statutory framework.
